Very bad weathers conditions and virtually no migration for seabirds today !
Just in interest, a Great white egret, 17 Little Gulls, 293 Sandwich terns, 187 Common Terns ....

An other good seawatching today despite poor winds conditions and bad SE conditions in north sea.
The fisrt Black-throated Diver (ad moulting) seen (early date), with a Red-throated Diver (ad breeeding plumage), some grebes with 2 Red-necked Grebes. Some very distant shearwaters with 1 Manx and 6 Balearics all flying south. The first 22 Brent geese noticed (little groups), ans some ducks 20 Shelducks, 6 Wigeons, 51 Teals, 8 Shovelers, 191 Common Scoters. Few waders. Very good movements for skuas despite no winds conditions with 87 Arctic Skuas, 1 Long-tailed Skua (juv), and 142 Great skuas, and another good specie with 1 Sabine Gull (juv). First significative numbers for Little Gull (91 ind.), also 973 Sandwich Terns, 1 442 Common Terns,  3 Arcitc Terns, 71 Black Terns and 1 White-winged Black Tern juvenile at close distance (but earlyer to make a photo). Again 2 Shags and 3 Grey Seals in local movements.

Another good seawatching day with good NW winds conditions. Again lots of Balearic Shearwaters (42ind.), but few numbers for the other species with 6 Sooty and 2 Manx. Very good movements for skuas with 8 Pomarine Skuas (1 dark adulte), 148 Arctic Skuas, 2 Long-tailed Skuas (juv) and 85 Great Skuas. Lots of Common terns (8 100 ind.), 30 Arctic Terns, 50 Little Terns and 50 Black Terns. Few ducks and waders except on group of 100 Knots. Concerning raptors, 1 Marsh Harrier and 3 Merlins to be noted.

Amazing seawatching day !!!!!!
Very intersting weather conditions (strong North winds along Britain cost with good SW winds in the channel) produced an exceptionnal shearwater day.
New Record for Balearic Shearwater with 84 birds flying south (previous record = 18 ind !!!) and for  Manx Shearwters (772 ind). Movement was regular along the day for Balearic Shearwaters (47 bafore midday), a real influx for Manx shearwater between 2p.m. and 4 p.m. with 500+ birds with important groups (most important was a 80 birds group !)
Very good numbers for the date for Sooty Shearwater (98 ind.), and 67 Shearwater species were Baléaric / Manx. At least the 1st Long-tailed Skua (adulte non bredding plumage), 1 Pomarine Skua (adult), 56 Arctic Skuas (afternoon), 42 Great Skuas, 1 Sabine's Gull (juv).
Few ducks, some waders with 159 Grey Plovers, 46 Knots, 1 Curlew Sandpiper, 32 Bar-tailed Godwits, 17 Redshanks, 59 Turnstones.... Lots of terns were feeding offshore with at least 10 Arctic Terns andt 63 Black Terns.

Vent de Sud-Est la veille et en cours de nuit

Journée particulière comme souvent avec ce type de conditions, avec peu d'oiseaux de mer mais une très bonne diversité concernant des espèces "intérieures" inhabituelles sur le spot de seawatch.
En début de journée, un groupe de 4 Hérons pourprés (record et seulement 2ème mention) survole lentement le site, 4 Hérons cendrés sont également notés en cours de journée. Plus classiques, 1 Grèbe jougris, 3 Puffins des Baléares (dont 2 en vol nord) et 7 Labbes parasites sont notés. Bon passage d'anatidés avec 53 Tadornes de Belon, 2Canards chipeau, 105 Sarcelle d'hiver, 26 Canards pilet, 27 Canards souchets et 123 Macreuses noires. Quelques rapaces sont notés avec 2 Faucons crécerelle, 1 Faucon émerillon, 1 Fauco hobereau, 1 Faucon pèlerin.
Très bonne diversité côté limicoles avec 15 espèces ; 88 Huîtriers pie, 23 Avocettes élégantes, 16 Grands Gravelots, 4 Pluviers argentés, 9 Bécasseaux maubèche, 30 Bécasseaux sanderling, 21 Bécasseaux variables, 26 Bécassines des marais, 1 Barge rousse, 16 Courlis corlieux, 32 Courlis cendrés, 9 Chevalier gambette, 8 Chevaliers aboyeurs, 5 Chevaliers guignette et 10 Tournepierre à collier.
Peu de passage côté laridés mais gros stationnement pour la Mouette mélanocéphale avec au minimum 70 oiseaux en mer et au moins 400 individus dans les champs derrière le cap. Même si les passereaux sont toujours peu nombreux sur le site de seawatch, des très nombreux oiseaux sont observés côté intérieur (Traquet motteux, Rougequeue à front blanc, Gobemouches noirs et gris, Torcol fourmilier, Sitelles torchepot, Gorgebleue à miroir, Locustelle tachetée, Bruant ortolan........)

Late afternoon seawatching seance today.
A new Red-throated Diver in breeding plumage (already  4 this automn) to ben seen today. A new Balearic Shearwater (flying north) after one week without any bird ! No ducks and few waders but a Greenshank. Some skuas with 1 Pomarine (adult), 11 arctics (1 juv), and 12 Great Skuas. Always good numbers for Common Terns (1 433 ind.) with already 31 000 birds for the season (this is a total for a compleate usual season!),  229 Sandwich Terns, 2 Arctic Terns and 21 black Terns.

La situation météo reste complètement bloquée, le passage est encore très limité à l'exception de la Sterne pierregarin (3 801 ind.), la Sterne caugek (791 ind), quelques Labbes parasites (26 ind.) ainsi que quelques rapaces peu communs sur le site avec 1 Bondrée apivore (au large vers l'angleterre !), 1 Busard saint-martin, 1 Faucon hobereau. Les nombres des autres espèces du jour restent anecdotiques .

Les conditions météo restent mauvaises très peu d'oiseaux à noter encore aujourd'hui.
Pas de puffins, très peu de limicoles et d'anatidés. Seulement 5 Labbes parasites. Une pêcherie de 70 Mouettes mélanocéphales est observée devant le site avant que les oiseaux ne partent vers le nord. Passage moyen pour les sternes avec 198 Sternes caugek, 746 Sternes pierregarin, 1 Sterne arctique (juv), 1 Sterne naine et 1 Guifette noire....

Séance assez moyenne. Le fort courant de SW continu semble bloquer le passage en mer du nord.
Aucun puffin n'est noté, peu d'anatidés. Quelques limicoles avec 4 Huîtriers pie, 59 Grands Gravelots, 11 Pluviers argentés, 48 Bécasseaux sanderling, 63 Bécasseaux variables, 6 Courlis corlieux, 1 Chevalier guignette. Peu de labbes avec 11 Labbes parasites (dont 1 E1) pour 10h de suivi. Passage assez moyen pour la Sterne pierregarin (1 445 ind.), 1 Sterne arctique (juv), 326 Sternes caugek, 6 Sternes naines et 24 Guifettes noires. A noter au large, 1 Busard des roseaux. En stationnement, 1 Faucon pèlerin juv,  1 Marsouin commun et 1 Phoque gris.

Peu de passage aujourd'hui. A noter tout de même la présence d'un Plongeon catmarin, 5 Hérons cendrés, très peu d'anatidés et de limicoles, seulement 3 Labbes parasites, peu de sternes avec 154 Sternes caugek, 854 Sternes pierregarin, 8 Sternes naines et 12 Guifettes noires. 2 Cormorans huppés en stationnement.

Encore une très bonne séance de seawatch ! avec l'Observation d'un Pluvier guignard (du large vers l'intérieur des terres), un très fort passage pour le sternes avec 6 473 Sterne Pierregarin, 757 Sternes caugek, 310 Sternes naines et 48 Guifettes noires. Quelques puffins sont notés avec 2 Puffins fuligineux et 2 Puffins des Baléares (1 Vol nord et 1 vol sud), peu de labbes avec 7 Labbes parasite et 2 Grands Labbes. Bonne diversité côté anatidés avec 16 Tadornes de Belon, les premiers Canards siffleurs (12 ind.) et Canards pilet (3 ind.) de la saison , 11 Sarcelles d'hiver, 16 Canards souchet, ainsi que 749 Macreuses noires. 14espèces de limicoles avec 240 Huîtriers pie, 16 grands Gravelots, 48 Pluviers argentés, 13 Bécasseaux maubèche, 3 Bécasseaux sanderling, 66 Bécasseaux variables, 1 Barge rousse, 9 Courlis corlieux, 1 Courlis cendré, 39 Chevaliers gambette, 2 Chevaliers aboyeurs, 3 Chevaliers guignette et 36 Tournepierres à collier. Nous notons également 16 Bergeronnettes de Yarrell en provenance de l'angleterre.

Good seawatching today with good NW winds but frustrating sighting conditions with a bad visibility (strong heat haze) with very distant birds.
First good movements for Sooty Shearwaters (19 ind.), also 3 Manx Shearwaters and 4 balearic Shearwaters. Few ducks and waders to be seen. Good migration for skuas
(but best numbers were expected) with 46 Arctic Skuas(with 6 juveniles), 2 Pomarine Skuas (adults) and 29 Great Skuas also 1 Sabine's Gull adulte close to shore. Good movements for terns with 4 344 Common Terns (2500 for the 2 first hours), 5 Arctic Terns (juv), 249 Little Terns and 32 Black Terns

Another very good seawatching day with the 2nd mention for Ferruginous duck at sea  !!!!!!! It was an adult in a flock of common Scoters seen in very good conditions in telescope.
Other good species concerned 11 Balearic Shearwaters (already 60 this automn) flighing south, 1 Garganey, 3 Pomarine Skuas (2 adults, 1 1st summer), 30 Arctic Skuas, 9 Great Skuas, and 9 Crossbills.
Other classic birds were 2 Shags, 34 Teals, 1 Shoveler, 36 Common Scoterss. Good diversity fr waders ; 14 Oystercatchers, 12 Ringed Plovers, 19 Grey Plovers, 22 Knots, 10 Sanderlings, 39 Dunlins, 6 Snipes, 21 Whimbrels, 7 Common Sandpipers and 3 Turstone. Good movements for terns with 2 162 Common Terns, 257 Sandwich Terns, 5 Little Terns and 21 Black Terns. 1 Wheater on the rocks, 1 Harbour Porpoise and 1 grey Seal at sea. We observed an Immature Skua species (probably pomarine 2nd summer) but a very difficult plumage to determinate specie withoutany  doubt (See picture above).

Very exciting seawatching today with a lot of unusual species from inland due to SSE winds and cloudy/rainning conditions !
15 different species for waders with  64 Oystercatchers, 5 Avocets, 67 Ringed Plovers, 136 Grey Plovers, 33 Knots, 24 Sanderling, 68 Dunlins, 41 Snipes (Record = 48), 37 Whimbrels, 4 Curlews, 208 Redshanks, 138 Greenshanks, 4 Wood Sandpipers, 77 Common Sandpipers (New record for this 3 species), 6 Turnstones. Good numbers for some ducks species with 68 Shelducks, 88 Teals (best total for august), 4 Mallards, 2 Garganeys (not so common for automn migration), 127 Shovelers (best total for august) and 139 Common Scoters. Few skuas with 4 Arctic Skuas (with 1 bird of 2nd summer) and 8 Great Skuas. Few terns today. Other species concerned 1 Red-throated Divers (only 8 mentions for august), 1 Red-necked Grebe, 2 Balearic Shearwaters (1 north / 1 South), 7 Grey Herons and 1 Kingfisher.

Despite light local winds, very good seawatching today in relation with goods NW winds the 2 day before in the middle of the North sea.
2 Manx Shearwaters flying south and 7 Balearic Shearwaters (with 6 flying north 1x4 and 1x2)to be seen. Very good migration for Arctic Skua (46 ind.), 1 Pomarine Skua (adult) and 9 Great Skuas. Other good pelagic specie for the day with  2 Sabine's Gulls adults at 9h10 et 9h50a.m. Good numbers for terns with 3 148 Common Terns, 991 Sandwich Terns, 87 Little Terns, 1 Black Tern.
Other birds concerned 2 Red-necked Grebes, 280 Gannets, few ducks. Good movements for waders with 27 Oystercatchers, 18 Grey Plovers, 80 Knots, 2 Dunlins, 25 Bar-tailed Godwit, 31 Whimbrels, 5 Redshanks. Feeding offshore, at least 3 Grey Seals and 2 Harbour Porpoise.

Good numbers for Balearic Shearwaters with 16 birds (best ever = 18 ind.) after strong SW 8-9 Bft winds yesterday. Some skuas with 7 Arctic Skuas (4 ad dark, 2 ad pale, 1 imm) and 8 great Skuas. Classic passage for terns with 1 334 Common Terns, 247 Sandwich Terns, and also 1 Black Tern. Poor migration for ducks and waders. 1 Grey Seal and 1 Harbour Porpoise feeding offshore.

Few birds to be seen today.
Pelagics concerned 4 Baleric Shearwaters, 3 Arctic Skuas (dark), 1 Great Skua. Few terns with 523 Common terns, 118 Sandwich terns and 1 Black Tern. Few waders and only 43 Common Scoters. 1 Kingfisher on the rocks before moving south.

Relatively quiet seance with some influx in relation with the NW winds in north sea but with poor local observation conditions (heavy rain during 90 minutes).
Some shearwaters with 4 Manx Shearwaters and 4 Balearics Shearwaters (2 flighing north / 2 flighing souht). 2 Little Egrets to be seen in south Flight. Good passage for Common Scoter (560 ind.) with 3 Teals. Some waders. Good presence for skuas with 3 Pomarine Skuas (2 ad, 1 2nd Summer), 16 Arcti Skuas and 11 Great Skuas. Good movements for terns with  449 Sandwich Terns,  1 642 Common Terns, 49 Little Terns and 32 Black Terns.

Best sightings concern 3 Red-necked Grebes, classic period for some birds, 3 Balearic Shearwaters, 1 Manx, 2 Gadwalls and the firsts 7 Black Terns for the season.
Other classic birds, 366 Gannets (flying north), 153 ommon Scoters, few waders with 1 Greenshank, 44 Oystercatchers, 15 whimbrels, 2 Great Skuas, 1 Arctic Skua. Few gulls with 3 Little Gulls (1 1st summer, 2 adults). Good movements for Common Terns (768 ind.) with 10% juveniles, also 1 Little Tern.

Good numbers for skuas with 8 Arctic Skua (high for the date), 1 Pomarine Skua adult (3rd ever for july), 1 Great Skua. Numbers of Whimbrel increase to 61 ind, (best period is the end of july and august), 26 Greylag Geese seen far at sea crossing the channel for UK. Good numbers for 557 Common Terns (only adults)
Other birds more classics with 280 Common Scoters, 70 Oystercatchers, 6 Dunlins, 2 Courlis cendrés, 5 Turnstones, 388 Sandwich terns (numerous juveniles) .....

Very good seawatching today for a early date !
Good pelagics with the 1st Sooty Shearwater , 16 Manx Shearwaters and 2
Balearic Shearwaters. Already very good numbers for skuas with 14 Arctic Skuas and 8 Great Skuas, best ever for july for the 2 species, 1 Pomarine Skua (only 1 previous in july = 1997). Another good bird with 1 Sabine's Gull adult (only 1 previous in july = 2007). Very good number for the date, 465 Common Terns today.
more usual datas concern 19 Great crested grebes, 419 Gannets, 5 Little Egrets, 1 Grey Heron, 217 Common       Scoters. Few waders with usual numbers for the period  128 Oystercatchers, 1 Knot, 25 Dunlins, 14 Whimbrels, 2 Curlew and 1 Common Sandpiper.
For gulls and terns, 7 Mediterranean Gulls, 2 Little Gulls, 128 Black-headed Gulls, 5 Common Gulls, 517 Sandwich Terns, 3 Little Terns.

As usual by moderate NW, all the birds were far at sea.

Good seawatching today with 2 Roseate terns (adults) a scarce specie on the spot (8 mentions for 12 birds). Already good movements for Sandwich Tern (217 ind.) with 20% juveniles. Signifcative migration for Black-headed Gull (198 ind.) with a first juvenile. Other birds concerned 1 Great crested Grebe, 5 Manx Shearwaters flighing south, 230 Gannets (flighing north), 2 Grey Herons crossing channel, 114 Common Scoters, few waders with 6 Lapwings, 6 Sanderlings, the 1st Whimbrel and 5 Curlews. One Arctic skua (dark morph)and 2 Great Skua are seen, with  3 Common Terns, 3 Guillemots and some passerines. 2 Grey seals in local movements.

First session for automn migration.
Few birds but some good species with 4 Manx Shearwaters flighing north and 1 Balearic Shearwater (south). Some Gannets (181 ind.) flighing north. First moçvements for Common Scoters with 81 Birds.  Unusual sighting of a male Red Breasted Merganser (2nd mention for june). One Great Skua close is seen flighing south, and the 1st juvenile Sandwich Tern. 2 auks with 1 Guillemot are seen today.
